This game has a much deeper storyline, which is narrated almost entirely through terminals spread out over a spaceship, where the adventure takes place. That being said, the action is a bit slower paced. Surprisingly, the result is most similar to Half-Life, which was released years later. Marathon is one of the great 90s shooters that -despite its great influence on the genre- remains shrouded in darkness. Thankfully, you can enjoy Marathon on any modern computer running any operating system thanks to this free, open-source version.
